correct physiological ratio of 2:1. Devacor ADS is a natural product, to replace or augment food factors that may be missing from the diet. Its physiological effects do not constitute a treatment for any serious disease condition.
Digestive Enzymes The food we eat has three major components Carbohydrates, Fats/ Oils, Proteins, which are digested in our body by enzymes amylase, protease, and lipases respectively. Digestion begins in mouth where the enzyme Ptylin in saliva breaks down starches into more simple sugars. Once the food is swallowed it comes in contact with the hydrochloric acid and enzyme pepsin in the stomach where the digestion of proteins start. In about half an hour the food reaches the intestine, where it is exposed to digestive enzymes secreted by the pancreas, which digests proteins, starches and fats. Gall bladder secretes bile while emulsifies and helps in digestion of fats.
A healthy body produces all these enzymes in sufficient quantities to ensure proper digestion of food. In some people enough quantities of these enzymes are not produced, and they often get the common symptoms of indigestion such as gas, bloating, heartburn and constipation. In such cases, supplementing the natural enzymes secreted by our body ensures that the food is digested properly. Digestive enzymes preparations aid our body enzymes in digestion of food.
Are You Lactose Intolerant? People who are lactose intolerant typically experience stomach bloating, gas, cramps and diarrhea. Symptoms usually appear 30 minutes to 2 hours after eating and vary by individual and the type and quantity of dairy foods consumed. Devacor uses the highest potency lactase enzymes available. When taking lactase digesting enzymes like those in Devacor ®, you should take it with the first bite of the dairy product for maximum effectiveness. Taking it too soon before a meal, or too late after consuming dairy reduces the product's ability to interact with the dairy products in the digestive system.
Clinical Considerations: The Bromelain, Papain, Betaine and Glutamic Acid HCI all work on the digestion of proteins. Bromelain attacks the long chain polypeptides of the proteins ingested, and breaks them down via hydrolysis to shorter chain peptides. These peptides are subsequently hydrolyzed by Papain, into basic amino acids or lower molecular lower weight peptides. The Betaine and Glutamic Acid HCI act to create the proper pH environment for the other enzymes as digestants. Additionally, these two act as acids and aid in the hydrolysis reactions on proteins, fats and starches.
